Dangerous Skinny Jeans & Tapered Jeans

Tapered denim styles draw attention to and accentuate your bottom, stomach and hips, and have the tendency to leave your legs looking like spindly, shapeless sticks. If that wasn’t enough, they also create an awkward juncture when meeting shoes.

Tapered jeans are most flattering when worn tucked in high boots, but many fashionistas can also be seen sporting skinny jeans with ballet flats or high heels, although for the average mortal woman this look is generally not recommended. Hopefully the evil stirrup pant is no longer being manufactured, but should you come across this vile pant-leg, promptly turn on your heel and run.

Tapered Leg Alternatives

More universally flattering styles are the straight, trouser, or boot-cut leg, which create longer, leaner silhouettes – and who doesn’t want that?

Stretch Denim

Denim is blended with stretchy components such as spandex or lycra to facilitate freedom of movement in snugger styles. For a longer life in your wardrobe – and to avoid that stretched-out look which never rebounds – keep stretch denim out of the dryer and opt for hanging stretchy jeans to dry instead.

Stretch is not meant to be tested at its limit. Just because you can squeeze your body into a size doesn’t mean it fits: can you walk around comfortably? Can you bend your knees? Can you breathe? If not – move on.

Trendy Denim Details

If you have a heavier bottom, avoid very large pockets or other design elements that draw more attention to that region.

Denim Sizing

There is no shame in wearing a size that fits. Avoid getting pegged into a certain ’size number’. Different designers use different standards for sizing: know your measurements and a general range, but try items on to be sure they fit properly and are cut to fit your particular shape. Alterations may be necessary in order to get the perfect fit.

Having said that, realize that jeans will likely stretch slightly, losing some of their sexy snug factor. Again, do not purchase a pair of jeans that feel uncomfortable in the store – they will remain uncomfortable, unworn, and consequently a depressing reminder of the money that would have been better spent elsewhere.

Be sure not to buy jeans that are too big or bulky, especially around the waist and bottom. They will never quite complete the hip or funky outfits you intended to create with them, and (unless you put on a few pounds) these jobbies will also remain unflattering.

Denim No-No’s

As a general rule: avoid light-colored and colored denim. Darker shades of blue read more like a basic black, and are more versatile in that they may be more appropriate for casual work-wear or dressing up for a night out on the town. Extremely light blues tend to look less sophisticated. Colored or bleached denim (including white, black, red, green, and any other non-blue shade) was a bad mistake from the late 80s early 90s; don’t re-live it.

Distressed Denim

There is something to be said for worn jeans that look faded or distressed because they have actually been worn.

Designers will often slightly distress or artificially age jeans to give them a more lived-in look, and when this is done in moderation, it usually looks great. However, jeans marked with distinctly distressed stripes and splotches (for example on the bottom, thighs, or hip-crease) belong in the same category as acid-wash jeans: save your money and move on.

How to Wear Jeans With Ugg Boots

九月 24th, 2009

It is a fashion to match jeans with ugg boots. Many Ugg fans choose to tuck their jeans into the boots. Tucking your jeans into Uggs can look sleek or sloppy depending on your tucking technique. But to tuck jeans into ugg boots seems to be a big problem. Today, let’s learn some best tips of tucking jeans into ugg boots.

    Choosing Jeans

  1. Select jeans with a slim fit from the knee down for the best tucking. The best jeans for tucking are skinny jeans made from a stretchy denim. Avoid wide-leg or flared jean styles. Jeans with a loose fit or flared bottom will be difficult to comfortably tuck inside your Uggs. They are also more likely to come loose and bunch up around the knees. If you don’t plan to take off your boots, look for jeans with a shorter hem to make tucking easier, such as cropped or capri styles.

    Rolling

  2. One of the quickest ways to securely tuck jeans into your Ugg boots is to vertically roll the lower legs for a tighter fit. Gather the back of your right pant leg and pull it back so the front of your jeans is snug against your shins and ankles. Keep the material in the snug position and pull it slightly to the left. Vertically roll it in a jelly-roll style until the jean hem is firmly resting against the inside of your right leg. Hold the roll in place with one hand, then slide your Ugg boot over the roll. Repeat with your left jean leg, reversing the direction of the rolling so it is on the inside of your left leg. The tight vertical rolls make the jeans rest as close to your lower legs as possible and keeps the front of your jeans from bunching up.

    Cuffing

  3. For longer jean styles, cuffing the hem can make your jeans tuck more smoothly into your Ugg boots. If you try to stuff excess denim into your boots, it will crowd your ankles and cause wrinkles around the knees of your pants. Make a single cuff at the bottom of your jeans so they end at your ankles. Make one tall cuff rather than folding it over to make a double cuff. A double cuff will add volume to the bottom of your pants and make tucking more difficult. Hold the cuff in one hand as you slide your Ugg boot over it, then repeat with the other leg.

    Banding

  4. If your jeans won’t stay tucked in place, use a thick rubber band to keep them secured. Roll or cuff your jeans, then wrap a rubber band around the area of your jeans leg that keeps slipping, such as your ankle or calf. This will help keep your jeans from coming out of your designer ugg boots. If you find the rubber band uncomfortable, you can also substitute old hosiery. Tie an old knee-high around the bottom of each pant leg to prevent your jeans from slipping.

Tips of Making Worn or Distressed Jeans

九月 17th, 2009

Transform your favorite fitting jeans into a designer trend. This awesome trend in jeans do not have to cost hundreds of dollars when you can create them yourself.

  1. Place a block of wood or a hard surface in the pants to prevent damaging the other side of the jeans.
  2. Rub a grater in different directions to fray the material. Rub longer for a drastic distress like holes and tears.
  3. A razor can also create a frayed finish. Bunch the fabric together and run the disposable razor over horizontally until the material frays.
  4. distress jeans on the thigh or knees also around the waistline.
  5. DO NOT cut holes with scissors. Scissor cuts will not create fraying.
  6. Sandpaper can create a worn look. Rub sandpaper on knees, back of pockets, or seams.
  7. Apply bleach around the tears and holes to dramatize their appearance.
  8. Run the jeans through the dryer a few times to fray the holes.
  9. Wash jeans.
  10. Wear your new designer Jeans!

How to Fray Jeans

八月 28th, 2009

It is common that modern fashionable young people would like to wear frayed jeans rather than new jeans. What’s more, they would be prone to spend large money to buy jeans that look look old and frayed. But, here, we would like to tell you how to fray new jeans, which can save you money and achieve the same look as old jeans.
1.Wash and dry the jeans you want to fray. This is especially important if you’re using a new pair of jeans as they may shrink after being washed.
2.Measure the length of your desired fray. If you cut too much off, you’re out of luck. You can mark the place with a pencil and then use a ruler to extend the line across your pant legs. » More: How to Fray Jeans

Levi’s 510 Super Skinny’s are the perfect fit

Levi's 510 Super Skinny's are the perfect fit

Levi's 510 Super Skinny's are the perfect fit

As we know,Levi’s is the best fashional jeans that you have.and having one Levis jeans not only makes you fashional but also makes you confidence. If you’re tall and skinny and can never find the best fitting jeans, like myself, Levi’s 510’s are for you. I am 6′1, 160 lb and they are the perfect skinny fit and I like it when my jeans bunch up just a little at the bottom and these jeans do just that. When you first try them on, they might seem too tight and too rough, but after wearing them for a day or two comfortably, they break in beautifully. These are all I wear now, and everyone compliments them. They aren’t too tight either (as I wear them slouched down a little). To my knowledge, Urban Outfitters is the only retailer to carry 510’s (I’ve even checked the Levi’s store), but of course you could always get them online. Urban Outfitters has a big selection of colors, even raw denim, and at an average price of $44 it is a great buy. My oldest pair I’ve had for about a year now and I still wear them on a daily basis. After a while they sort of ‘form into’ the way you wear them and it feels weird if I wear any other jeans because I feel no other jeans are as comfortable. They are also ideal if you want to show off your sneakers.

How to Iron Blue Jeans

How to Iron Blue Jeans

It would be fretful that our blue jeans are wrinking a lot when we are going to wear it for some occasions. As we all know, putting on a crisp, creased pair of blue jeans is a very impressive fashion statement. Many people avoid it because of the stiffness of the fabric and the work involved in flattening out the tedious and meticulous fabric folds. But, ironing jeans is a relatively easy thing to do with the right tools and sprays.

Jeans

Jeans

  1. Wash the denim jeans first to rinse away any residue or fabric ink from the manufacturer.
  2. Lay the denim jeans flat and straight across the ironing board with one pants leg on the board.
  3. Spray the jeans with spray starch or sizing to help the iron flatten the blue jeans out. Spray one pant leg at a time.
  4. Press the iron down firmly on the jeans until the fabric lays flat.
  5. Move the iron up, down and across the pants leg, As you iron, press down on the pant leg.
  6. Fold the blue jeans across the seam of the pants to keep from getting creases along the front of the jeans.
  7. Place a thin sheet of wax paper between the pants leg of the jeans and the hanger when hanging up. This eliminates any “hanger fold.”
  8. Stack one to two pairs of pants on the hanger at a time. The weight of the denim will create a lasting fold effect on both pairs of pants.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a damp towel periodically to spot wipe jeans. This keeps the fabric softened and helps the starch work much better.
  • Pay attention to steam control settings. Steam that is set too high can cause burns on the fabric and on your skin. Steam that is set too low will not work effectively when trying to crease the fabric. Adjust the steam setting as needed.
